Position title       : Monitoring and evaluation Assistant Location              : Taiz, Yemen  Publish Date      : 20 January 2014 Deadline            : 27 January 2014 Position Status  : Full Time  Reference Number: TAZ_MEA2014   PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: Mercy Corps (MC) is a non-profit, non-aligned, secular non-governmental (NGO) humanitarian relief and development organization, with offices in more than 40 countries around the world, including Yemen, where the organization has recently expanded with a robust humanitarian response and youth conflict mitigation portfolio with programming and has offices in Sana’a, Taiz and Aden The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant will collect and analyze relevant data in order for the team to measure program impact and ensure compliance with the organization standards. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: •    Frequent field visits to conduct an on-going data collection process through interviews with beneficiary households and vendors and ensure high-quality data is collected in accordance with the agreed time plan and data collection strategy.  •    Enter monitoring data into computer-based data collection system according to schedule, and or supervise this process •    In cooperation with the Program Manager and DME Manager, analyze and summarize data, and help ensure high-quality reporting for regular, interim and final reports.  •    Support an on-going process of beneficiary verification. •    Monitor voucher distributions and commodity prices in the local market as requested. •    Work with Monitoring Officer to track that program-based monitoring activities are being performed according to schedule  •    Work with the Monitoring Officer to implement directed research projects •    Work in collaboration with the Monitoring Officer to provide timely reports and data summaries  •    Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to the organization and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission. •    Other duties as assigned. ACCOUNTABILITY: REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer WORKS WITH: Programs team, up to 2 other Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants and a Data Entry Clerk KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:  •    A university degree in relevant field is required. •    Experience working within an international NGO is preferred.   •    Understanding of the social, political and economic context of Sana’a.   •    Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel.  •    Strong oral and written English skills. •    Ability to think independently and problem solve. •    Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task. •    Honest, hardworking and committed to community development.    Application Process Interested candidates are requested to submit a one page cover letter and CV in English by email to  [email protected]  no later than 27 January 2014.
