Role purpose: o Developing and execution of SCM strategies using the category management methodology o Delivering optimal total cost of ownership for the relevant SCM categories o Delivering CAPEX and OPEX savings targets o Delivering innovative commercial models and ensuring that longer term sourcing decision are considered during category development o Securing the delivery of projects, goods and services across the categories The role holder will be highly visible to internal and external Vodafone Qatar stakeholders Key accountabilities and decision ownership: • Impact on the business o Accountable for category spend o Accountable for delivering CAPEX and OPEX savings targets o Accountable for setting and leading delivery of 1-3 year category strategy to optimise total cost of ownership for Vodafone Qatar o Accountable for making recommendations on vendor selection and any commercial trade-offs o Optimize Vodafone Qatar Suppliers categories base o Leads and owns commercial relationship with key Suppliers o Manage category/subcategory by negotiating industry leading terms with Vodafone Qatar and Vodafone Group suppliers o Responsible for ensuring budgets holders requirements are defined and reflected in the category strategy o Manages and ensures the usage of Supply Chain tools, processes, policies and standards o Meet savings targets and continually push to exceed expectations while ensuring commercial perspective o Delivery of category cost insights, cost modelling and reference costs o Challenges current business thinking of requirements and how those requirements can be presented to Suppliers to Vodafone Qatar advantage • Budget holder, supplier and third parties o Manage relationships with key business stakeholders/budget holders o Manage Vodafone Qatar suppliers and optimise supplier performance o Identify & evaluate potential future suppliers o Reporting performance of key category suppliers as required to internal stakeholders and undertaking improvement planning o Ensure local market engagement in VPC lead contract negotiations as required • Leadership and teamwork o Manage relationship with budget holders to ensure that the category strategy reflects their ability to fulfil local market internal requirements o Supports Head of SCM to ensure success is recognised, takes appropriate measures to ensure improvements of team’s performances through coaching and mentoring o Develops a strong customer focus approach extending it to the whole team o Capacity to lead virtual, cross-functional project teams o Uses proven management skills o Act as leader, escalation and focal point for all categories related activities up to limit of responsibility • Innovation and change o Make recommendations on balancing competitive pricing, equipment diversity, process standardisation opportunities and longer term supplier relationships for the category – subcategory o Responsible for developing and delivering the evolution of innovative commercial models o Drive common standards across vendors to ensure comparability of supplier equipment within the subcategory in global price books and consistency in e-Auctions o Implement e-Commerce best practice solutions within category to realise commercial benefits o Investigate and drive performance improvements on specific opportunities identified within the sub-category • Knowledge and experience o Has at least 5 years of work experience within telecoms industry o Has extensive experience working within Supply Chain at both global and local level o Has successfully managed virtual teams o Utilise strong analytical skills to draw insights from a large volume of diverse data o Use background in SCM and technical category knowledge to enable effective engagement with stakeholders and suppliers • Communication o Lead negotiations with Vodafone Qatar suppliers o Has a clear stakeholder engagement approach supported when necessary with a clear communication plan o Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders o Present and defend innovative category and purchasing strategies o Effective influencing of internal customers and external suppliers Key performance indicators : • According to the category spend and targets • Account management teams of local and global suppliers and prospects • Internal stakeholders at Heads/Director level relationship and below o Line Management might be required • Manage own workload and inputs from others Core competencies, knowledge and experience: o Strong analytical skills, with the ability to derive accurate conclusions from large volume of diverse data o Understands financial modelling, including cost drivers of category o Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment o Ability to operate effectively in a changing environment o Category Management know-how, including understanding of Strategic Sourcing issues o Ability to manage a wide range of supplier relationships, from short term tactical relationships to long term strategic partnerships o Understanding of supply chain and/or network an advantage o Communication, commercial and negotiation skills o Vendor portfolio optimisation vs. business opportunities o Respond in time to the market demand (internal customer demand) o SCM community drive and support (purchasing council management quality) • N/A Must have technical / professional qualifications: o Educated to degree level in business (or equivalent professional experience) o Proven desire for personal and career development strongly encouraged Business acumen: knows the competition, the market place, knowledgeable in practices and trends o Ability to work effectively as part of an international team o Strategic agility: big picture, future thinking, anticipation o Motivating others: Capability to motivate people around projects.
