Driver Food Security Policy and Strategy Capacity Building Programme Special Emergency Programme Services (TCES) 1 Year (Possible Extension) National Project Personal Service Contract – SB/1 1 Kassala The Food Security Policy and Strategy Capacity Building Programme (FSP & SCBP) is a three year partnership between the Food and Agriculture of the United Nations, the European Union and the Government of Sudan that runs until the end of 2015. The programme aims to strengthen the capacity of government line ministries in Red Sea, Kassla, Gedaref and Blue Nile states in the collection and analysis of food security information for policy decision making. This means that food security decisions can be more informed and inclusive and better implemented and monitored. FSPS builds at a state level on the achievements made federally under FAO’s Sudan Institutional Capacity Program: Food Security Information for Action (SIFSIA) towards building an integrated food security information system. The Driver is responsible for driving the assigned vehicle(s) at relevant Area Coordination FAO Office. He/she ensure the safety, technical soundness and comfort of the vehicle(s) assigned. The incumbent works under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative, the general supervision of the Senior Emergency and Rehabilitation Coordinator and the Area Emergency coordinator/Team Leader and the direct supervision of the functional supervision and performs the following duties: ·           Drive the assigned vehicle as desired by the APC/TL or his functional supervisor. ·         Drives office vehicles for the transport of authorized personal and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items. ·         Meets staff and official visitors at the airport, facilitate immigration, customs formalities, hotel check-in, and other local formalities. ·         Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, transportation/vehicle related expenditures, and vehicle servicing repairs, etc. ·         Ensure day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle(s); checks oil, water, battery, tires, etc.; perform minor repairs and timely arrange for any other repairs necessary to keep the vehicle safe and technically sound at all times, maintain the vehicle(s) in clean conditions. ·         Handle local and organizational formalities when involved in an accident; ensure that in this case all organizational and local / country rules, regulations and procedures are followed correctly. ·         Collect and deliver mail, documents, pouches, and other communications / items from and to country office, go to the post office, airport, government agencies, other UN agencies, institutions, project sites, etc., to take and deliver items and communications; keep records as required. ·         When needed, assist the relevant Area Coordination FAO Staff in performing simple clerical duties such as making and answering telephone calls, making photocopies, keeping records, etc. ·         Perform other related duties as required.   Applications are normally not considered from candidates who do not possess all of the essential qualifications. Primary/ Secondary education. Possession of valid driver’s general license. Three years of work experience as a driver, Flawless, safe driving record, area knowledge and being a resident candidate of the relevant area is an asset. ·         Fair knowledge of English and Arabic is required. ·         Good knowledge of the local driving rules and regulations; skills in minor vehicle repair. A high degree of punctuality and reliability is required. Safe driving manner. Good sense of direction and knowledge of local condition. Ability to cope with extended working hours. Fair knowledge of vehicles mechanics is desirable. ·         The Driver must possess a polite and friendly attitude and handle his/her passengers with utmost respect. A tidy appearance, courtesy, discretion and a high level of trustworthiness are essential personal attribute.
